The RYA PowerBoat Level 2 (Coastal/Tidal) Practical PowerBoat Course is an exciting and fun speed boat lesson and internationally recognised photo-I.D. licence certificate, you can use to hire boats worldwide, get insurance for your own, or start a career at sea.
If you have little or no experience and you need to learn how to safely drive a powerboat up to 10 metres (33 feet) with family or friends, this RYA National PowerBoat Scheme Course is for you.
You will learn and practice techniques for moving and docking safely in crowded marinas, high speed driving, rules of the road, buoys, man overboards, anchoring, mooring, tying up, safety equipment, navigation, using electronic GPS, charts, tide tables and so much more - there is too much to list and the whole 2 days is a hands-on learning and powerboating experience you will never forget!
Popular with couples and individuals alike, no prior knowledge or experience is assumed, and very quickly those with no boat driving past will be helming like a pro!
These courses are 2 Days (normally Sat/Sun) with Check-In / Arrival from 0900hrs on Saturdays, at our LargsCentre. Return is for about 1730hrs each day. You will visist different islands & bays, in the Firth of Clyde & Islands powerboating area.

No Previous Experience Necessary
A typical course or experience weekend, will entail leaving our centre at Largs Yacht Haven and engaging in sailing activities and training during the day, whilst en route to a destination. You will likely cover many tens of miles up to 50 miles per weekend, and you may also have the opportunity to participate in an exciting 4-hour night sail, depending on the weather and sunset times.
You and your crew will be completely involved in the decisions about where to travel to - and how to get there. This is all part of the course, is vital learning and all part of the fun!
Experience stunning mountains, castles, whales, dolphins, seals and birdlife - even sail past Royal Navy submarines and other interesting marine traffic too!
Each powerboat is licenced for 6 persons, but on any RYA PowerBoat Course there is a maximum of 3 Persons + 1 RYA Instructor, per boat - with to 2 boats departing each weekend (Sat-Sun) and some midweek dates also.
