Good News! - With ScotSail®, up until 28 days prior to your start-date, you have an absolute right to either:

1). Cancel your booking for a full refund of any amounts paid; OR

2). Change the dates, at any time up until 28 days prior to the start date; OR

3). Change or reduce the number of persons in your reservation.

If you need to cancel or amend your booking within 28 days prior to your start-date, you cannot automatically change dates, or get a refund, because we have booked the boat / classroom / instructor / materials for you based on your reservation, and turned others away.

You may try to find another person to take the space(s) which you have booked, or you can ask us to voluntarily help you find another party to take the space(s) which you have reserved with us.

You can even ask us to discount your space(s), and to promote it online for you using our websites and social media channels, but any assistance will be voluntary as we are under no obligation to do this.

There may be other customers who have made a similar request to you for the same dates so, in the interests of fairness, the spaces shall be offered online in the order in which the requests to cancel / change dates are received.

If we do find another customer to take your space(s) at the same value of your booking, you may then use that amount which you paid originally (or the lesser discounted amount which the replacement customer has paid) as a credit against a future reservation, starting within 12 months of your original date, but there shall be no refund.

We think this policy is generous and fair, whereby we allow any customer to cancel for a full refund, or change dates, at any time up until 28 days prior, without having to provide a reason, but not within 28 days, and it is to protect you, and our other customers from being cancelled-on by us if there are insufficient numbers to ensure that the course runs:

The only money available to pay for the course, boat or classroom is the total sum of that which has been paid in by attending customers for that specific date - if we allowed customers to cancel for a full refund or change dates (i.e. move their fee / money to a different date) at any time, e.g. even 1 or 2 days beforehand, then we could have a situation whereby people choose to cancel at short notice, meaning there are insufficient numbers to run the course, and we are forced to cancel, at short notice, on others who did not wish to be cancelled-on, which would be a significant inconvenience to them, and reflect badly on us as a training organisation.

We are regularly approached by customers who have suffered illness, bereavement or changes to their availability, and we are more than happy to voluntarily help them, where we can, to find replacement customers for the spaces they have booked wherever possible, through our online booking system, stand-by list and social media channels.

Such customers may also wish to advertise their spaces independently to family / friends, or online via their own social media, or perhaps via popular online auction or advertising websites: there is no impediment to doing this, but any new purchaser must accept our terms and conditions.

If / when there is any news regarding your request to change dates, you will be contacted by e-mail, sms / text-message or 'phone, to let you know, so there is no need to call or send messages requesting updates or to re-iterate your request for us to help you.

When you booked, we also recommended that you took steps to ensure that you had adequate travel / cancellation insurance in the event that you needed to cancel or change your dates.

We are committed to being as helpful as possible in providing you with copies of any booking documentation that you may need to send to your insurance company, in order for you to make a claim.

Please Read: Check Out The Full Terms & Conditions (Section 22.) >

Please note that requests to cancel or change your booking must be made in writing (i.e. using this webform system) - and cannot be accepted verbally by telephoning us or visiting our office.
