What Will The Weather Be Like?

As our Sailing Area sits on the Gulf Stream, the weather and temperature on the West Coast of Scotland varies from high winds, showers and lower temperatures in the Winter Season (Nov-Feb), to windless days with over 25°C heat in the Spring/Summer Season.

The weather we experience is generally very good, and despite common misconceptions it doesn't rain all the time and, unlike the central highlands, there are no 'midges' whatsoever - especially at sea!

That being said, the weather can be changeable and can go from fine and sunny sailing weather, to overcast and showers, and then back again in the space of 30 minutes - so bringing suitable clothing for all weathers is advisable.

The best weather we experience is during April/May/June/July & August, when it is warm, and there can be prolonged periods without any significant cloud cover, making for some stunning sunsets.

It is also advisable to bring suncream, sunglasses and a hat - at all times of year - as being out on the water, just like with skiing, can magnify the effects of the sun on your eyes and body.
