All meals, snacks and drinks on-board during practical sail cruising course-days are provided as part of your course-fee.   In practice, we do not choose the food items for you in advance - our RYA Course Instructors are provided with cash and a receipt-book, or a company credit-card, to allow you to make your own choices about what on-board meals and foodstuffs you want.

With your Instructors' guidance, you will make a list of the items you wish to have, and send a crew-member to collect and pay for these items using the ScotSail®-supplied funds.    Further purchases can be made from local suppliers in the sailing area as the quality is excellent and it helps to support rural and island economies.

It is in this way that we can cater for differing tastes and dietary requirements.    In some cases, doing this shopping - known as 'victualling' is actually part of the RYA Course Syllabus as it teaches good practice about carrying appropriate supplies on-board, and how to prepare meals using the kitchen (or 'galley') facilities safely, whilst at sea.
