If I Book The Online VHF Course, Can I Do The Assessment During The Course?
Yes. The VHF Radio Licence Course can be booked online, takes around 4-6 hours to complete and can be done on a PC/Mac or the iPad app before arrving for your practical RYA Sail Cruising or PowerBoat Course at Largs Yacht Haven.
You do not need to contact us to pre-book this - you will be asked during the check-in process if you would like to sit the assessment.
Once you've completed the online course and short multi-choice assessment, you can download your Online Pass Certificate, which has your Unique Pass Code at the bottom.
Bring this to the centre (a screenshot will do), and you can sit the short practical assessment at the centre. They are normally done every Friday and Sunday from around 1530hrs, and it takes around 90 minutes on average.
Much more detailed instructions are emailed to you automatically when you sign up to the course online.
